After the extremely entertaining Olympic Gold Medal run, it's no doubt that almost every NBA fan wants to see what these two players would do in the league together. From the alley-oops from Curry to LeBron, to Curry getting open and LeBron finding him, it was absolute cinema.
This made fans think back to the small rumblings around the trade deadline that mentioned LeBron James to the Warriors. Obviously the Warriors entertained the thought, but the talks never even began, due to LeBron's high-profile agent, Rich Paul.
When the Lakers and Warriors were both struggling at the midseason point, the Warriors inquired about James, but it was quickly shut down by Rich Paul. Paul feared the backlash of James switching teams for a fourth time in his career and stated "I don't think there's anything else for him to accomplish and I don't think he's in a space where he has to win every year."
A few months later, the Lakers doubled down on their commitment to LeBron, drafting his son Bronny James, and giving LeBron a contract extension. Ultimately, the backlash from James switching teams would've weighed more on his legacy than a championship with the Warriors would.
Showing how unstoppable these two were in the Olympics together was like watching a movie for NBA fans. When the two were on the court together, they seemed almost unstoppable, and they both seemed happy to be able to rely on each other to score. Did Rich Paul rob us of one of the best duos in NBA History?
